Frequently Asked Questions

How much will Retreat cost?

We’d love to see you at Retreat, so much so that we’ll cover the costs of one room for your 2-night stay and all of the shared meals we’ve arranged for our group! We’ll ask you to cover the rest of your expenses, which might include: transportation, free time activities, and any meals while traveling.

Can I bring someone with me to Retreat?

Retreat is tailored to you, the TFI Advocate. It is our desire that this is a time for you to be filled up—to find connection, be encouraged, and rest. You are welcome to bring your spouse or an approved Coordinator along with you that you don’t mind sharing a hotel room with. If you decide you would prefer to bring someone along rather than coming by yourself, we recommend considering the person (spouse/approved Coordinator) who would encourage you in finding connection with other Advocates and making the most of this time together!

I have special dietary needs. Can you accommodate me?

Yes, when you RSVP, please note any special accommodations you or your guest may need.

Is training credit (continuing education) available to foster parents?

Yes! Training certificates will be made available that you can submit to your licensing worker. It will be the Advocate’s responsibility to complete the training certificate and submit that paperwork to your licensing worker for approval. Unfortunately, we are not able to guarantee that each state or licensing agency will grant training credit.

How do I RSVP?

Registration will be open during the month of May 2026!

Can I bring my child/children to Retreat?

We love your kids, but thought you could use a couple of days off! Adults-only, please and thank you.

If Retreat is free, why are you asking for a credit card?

TFI National is honored to be able to offer Retreat as a free event to our Advocates and a guest! You may notice that we are requiring a credit card for your event registration. If you register and let us know you are unable to attend after August 1st, you will be charged a cancellation fee of $250. Our intent is not to put any barriers between you and attending. Rather, it allows us to plan more accurately for the number of guests attending and optimize your experience. Historically, with any cancellations, we have absorbed all hotel costs. This will help contribute to the costs we will pay upon your inability to attend at the last minute. Please contact [email protected] if you have any questions or concerns.

Where will the event take place?

The event will take place at Courtyard by Marriott Jekyll Island, GA. Find more information and details here!

When should I arrive?

We would recommend arriving between 3:00-4:30 pm EST to have some time to settle and prepare for our evening together. If you are planning to arrive much earlier, please let us know ahead of time so we can plan to welcome you!

Can I come early or stay late?

Arriving early or staying late would be something that you are responsible for covering the costs for. That being said, we would love for you to extend your time away! Contact Sarah, and she is happy to see if discounts are available to you. The beach is a great place to enjoy!

I'm flying in. Can you help me get from the airport to the hotel?

Jekyll Island feels like a true getaway — but it’s easy to reach, and we’ll do our best to help make getting there even easier. Full transportation details and ride-share signups will be shared closer to the event. You have several convenient airport options:
Brunswick Golden Isles Airport (BQK) – ~30 minutes away (flights via Delta)
Jacksonville International Airport (JAX) – ~1 hour south
Savannah/Hilton Head International Airport (SAV) – ~1 hour 30 minutes north
The island is small and easy to navigate. Our host hotel and most amenities are within a few minutes’ bike ride, walk, or short drive if you want. Many guests enjoy biking or walking between attractions, and the hotel offers parking on-site. There is also a local shuttle available. Should you desire to connect with other Advocates about ground transportation from the airport, indicate your interest on our RSVP form. We are going to do our best to help accommodate your trip!

I'm driving. What is the parking situation?

There is a lot on-site at Courtyard by Marriott Jekyll Island with free parking.

I see there is a fee to bring a vehicle onto the island. What's up with that?

We’ve got you! Jekyll Island charges a vehicle entry fee because the entire island is a state park. This fee, paid upon entry or online, supports the maintenance of roads, grounds, landscaping, conservation programs, and public safety services, ensuring the preservation of the island. It is $10/day to have a vehicle there. That said, if you are planning to bring a vehicle onto the island, we would be happy to cover this fee for you. Please contact Sarah at [email protected] by September 1, and she will get the details necessary to provide you with a pass.

What should I wear?

We’re heading to the beach! This year’s event will have a relaxed, casual vibe—feel free to dress in whatever makes you most comfortable. We’ll be spending time both indoors and outdoors, so bringing a few layers is a great idea. We will plan on having one dinner that is slightly more formal – think sundress for ladies or polo for guys, but in our preparation emails after your RSVP, we will provide more information!

Registration is now closed - email Sarah with questions ([email protected])
